Villereal in France is a good area for walking, visiting vineyards, fishing, golf and visiting the many Bastide towns in the area. Chill out in the main square and enjoy a "Menu du Jour" costing an average 12 Euros. There are 2 main bars in the main square, a small supermarket called "hiut a hiut", 3 bakeries, 2 butchers, 2 pharmacies, several hairdressers and 4 or 5 restaurants within walking distance. There is a petrol station & a big Intermarche on the outskirts of town.

There is a fantastic market on Wednesdays (during the high season) & one every Saturday morning. Look out for the Paella man (makes it fresh, goes in a flash), & the chicken/quail/poussin roasting man, for a fab lunch. Nothing needs to be said about the wonderful fruit & veg, & fish & local products, prunes being one of them.

The tourist office under the arches in the Main Square has a weekly bulletin in their window, giving you information about what is happening in Villereal & nearby villages. In the summer, they do "Fete Regional" with local suppliers, food, music & folk dancing. The Square is also very much abuzz with live bands.

The market that takes place on a Wedensday in Bergerac is very popular, we recommend you go early for parking. For the "foodies" lookout for the Michelin listed restaurant opposite the market square in Bergerac. We have an agreement with Hotel du Lac, just 5 minutes walk down Rue du Dropt & across the road leading out of town, for use of their swimming pool, on the basis that our guests will buy drinks and maybe food for using the pool.
